Blue Star Contemporary Art Museum seeks portfolio submissions from Texas artists for studio visit and exhibition opportunities. Blue Star Contemporary is located in San Antonio, TX and for 29 years has been a destination for contemporary art, supporting local, national and international artists who are both established and emerging. The top artists are selected for a studio visit with Blue Star’s Executive Director and Exhibitions and Programs Manager. Studio visits will be conducted summer 2016.

Portfolios should include recent work, made within the last five years, that accurately represents the current state of the artist’s practice. Your portfolio should give us an understanding of visual and conceptual themes, and your voice as an artist. Please note this is not an exhibition proposal.

Artists will be considered for inclusion in possible group or solo exhibitions to take place at Blue Star Contemporary in our 2016/2017 exhibition schedule. Two group shows (Everyday is Ordinary and Transmission), two solo exhibitions (Cynthia Gregory and Emily Fleisher), and one two-person exhibition (Liz Rodda and Charlie Morris) were curated from the nearly 400 applications received in last year’s open call.

Submit your portfolio via Slideroom, March 1 through March 31, 2016
