The Calcasieu Gallery, a newly opened art space located on Broadway in Downtown San Antonio will have its grand opening art extravaganza July 4th, 2009. The Calcasieu Gallery will hold the exhibit in time for the holiday weekend and will commemorate Contemporary Art Month in San Antonio. The Calcasieu Apartments, under new management, will open the space beneath the apartments for this one night spectacular. New work from artists Ernest Vidal, Gil Casares & Michael Casares will be on display. The event will be a black light exhibit and the third year for the Black Light Art Party, a moniker birthed at the late, great Ruta Maya Riverwalk. This year’s exhibit will follow themes of the Fourth of July holiday as well experimental, abstract, 3-D & contemporary art. Live music by local bands The Musikbox, Sachsen Apocalypse & more! The event begins at 7 PM & is free. BYOB. The lights go on when the sun goes down! Be there!
