Quoting Sarah:
"I have been told that, at the age of six, I declared I would be an artist when I grew up. It took me thirty years to embark on the process of making it a reality by starting art school full-time in 2006. For me, the capacity for personal development – the ability for self-reflection and honesty (which is what finally got me to this life of making art)—is inextricably bound with the possibility for creating meaningful art. Those thirty years –many of them as a classical musician and a facilitator—now enrich my sculpture practice with ideas from psychology, music, Jungian thought, neo-feminism and art history.
While much of my work evokes domesticity and minimalist concerns (or their opposite) to question ideas around gender identity, there is also a strong element of intellectual play, especially when the work directly engages art, art history and its institutions. My most recent work creates multisensory experiences that serve as metaphors for human experience and gives an idea of the direction my work is taking."
