Brian R. Jobe’s Blank Tides features an outdoor site-specific installation and an indoor review of recent object-based sculptures. One common thread tying the work together is Jobe’s use of zip ties as a primary assemblage medium. The ties are intended to transform the objects from found items to ones overtaken by a chromatic growth. As the title suggests, Jobe’s zip ties respond to unwritten rhythms and create a pulse, a pattern, and a domino effect. The outdoor wrapping of a vehicle is intended to render it non-functional and paused in time.
