Laurie Brainerd began creating art quilts in 2005 after careers in corporate accounting and life coaching. She has studied art at the Southwest School of Art and with Jane Dunnewold in her Mastery Program.
Laurie Brainerd dyes cloth and stitches on it. Her work has been described as cloth paintings and bridges the gap between the quilt world and the art world. She calls her style of quilting—“Quilting the hell out of it.” Her work is rich in color, texture, and emotion.
Laurie’s work has been published in several professional journals, catalogs, and books. Laurie's studios are located on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the artist enclave on the northeast corner of Jones and Broadway in San Antonio, TX.
