"Through my work I celebrate and honor the passion and struggles boxing women embody. Boxing has been the only Olympic sport category closed to women. The 2012 Olympics will be the first time to include female boxing. This sport has served as a platform for many different women and young girls around the world to renew their personal and social context. They have defied standards of femininity and subverted its contemporary meaning through agency of their body. These cultural heroes actively engage in defining their role in contemporary society. "
