MANY HANDS Gallery presents the exhibition After-Life Portraits by Ethan Moore. Playing with perspective and sight, the works are collaged in unusual materials and formed with stylized dots. The subjects of these portraits are deceased icons and monsters. The dots are made of phosphorescent paint which creates a mystical experience when viewed in the dark. They exist in two perspectives; in the daylight, a galaxy of vivid colors support the scene for a translucent portrait. In the dark, the background disappears, the paintings borders dissolve and the paints' green ephemeral glow informs the portraits subject. These works are playful yet menacing, visible and invisible, all while connecting the theory that ghosts manifest form through accessing localized energy; here the phophorescent paint glows by absorbing the light specturms energy.
